今日はひさびさアートネタです。
Stanley Donwoodってアーティスト、名前を聞いても分からない方も多いかもしれませんがRadioheadのアートワークを手がけるアーティストです。
第5のRadioheadメンバーとも言われているほど彼らの作品の世界に深く関わっているアーティスト。
そのStanley Donwoodの個展がStoke NewingtonにあるギャラリーHang-up galleryで行われていたので足を伸ばしてきました。
Radiohead好きとしてはたまらない作品の数々。Radioheadが編み出す音の世界と本当にこのアーティストの作品は「孤高」という意味でマッチしていて、かつ独特のシニカルなブラックユーモアがそこかしこに感じられて、とにかく最高でした。彼の得意とするスクリーンプリント以外のエッヂングやペインティングも沢山見られて、たっぷり作品と向き合える贅沢な時間。
このギャラリーではウェブでのアート作品販売も行っていて、あのバンクシーからほぼ無名なアンダーグラウンドアーティストまでバリエーションは様々。
イギリス、とくにロンドンではアートは特別なものではなく、身近にあって手の届きやすい存在。街や公園にアート作品があふれ、そして多くのギャラリーが無料で個展を開いている。そういうところはロンドンのほんとに素敵な魅力であって、できれば日本でももっともっとアートが身近になるといいなと強く思います。
話が逸れましたがこの個展は１２／１まで。もしロンドンに行く、居る方、とくにRadioheadファンにはぜひ訪れてほしいです。
Today topic is art. Many of you might not know the name of Stanley Donwood,but you might know the work he has done for the decade. He is the artist who done all the artwork of the release of Radiohead.
He contributed the work of the radiohead so much that he is said to be “the 5th member of The Radiohead”.I found His exhibition taking place at Hang-up gallery in Stoke Newington so I went to see.
I was mesmerized by numbers of works by Stanley. It’s a perfect much that the sound of radiohead and his artwork in a sense of loftiness, and I could see the cynical dark humor everywhere in his works. Anyway it was stunning experience to see his works with my eyes. I could enjoy taking time looking at each pieces of his work done various way like etching or painting or screen print.
This gallery by the way selling art pieces on line, dealing Banksy to underground cult artist yet to be famous.
Art is not something special and something easy to reach in this country especially in London. Art is everywhere in the town and park, and you can find many free exhibitions happening in the city. That’s the great charm of London. I wish the art will be more reachable and free to anyone in Japan too.

This exhibition is opening until 1st of December. I recommend to visit the gallery if anyone especially fan of Radiohead plan to come to London by the day.
